We hope everyone had an enjoyable week. The kinders have sure been loving the warmer weather! As the weather can be a bit unpredictable this month, please ensure your son/daughter comes to school with a hat for sunny days and sweater or light jacket for chilly mornings.
This week, we talked about syllables. We practised clapping the syllables in different words, and also put our hands under our chins and took note of the number of "bumps" we felt. We sang this song and practised with many different words!
Syllables
to the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat)
Syllables are sounds we hear,
In each and every word,
Count the parts in WORD,
And tell me what you heard!

We presented both groups with a math challenge this week: How many different combinations can you make using only a red, blue and yellow block? Many friends visited the math table and did a great job exploring the different ways to make towers! We love when their thinking exceeds our expectations. We set out a recording sheet with blank vertical towers the students could fill in. Many students realized they could make different combinations by setting out the blocks in different ways (ie two on bottom, one on top). Love the out of the box thinking!
Fun in the sun!
