Happy Friday! We hope all of our Whales and Turtles are having a great PD Day.
This week we focused on being good samaritans. We talked about the lessons Jesus taught through the parable of the Good Samaritan. We watched the following video which elicited a lot of great discussion about how to be a good person, who are neighbours are, and how to be a peacemaker at school, home and in our community.

We also heard so many adorable stories about your neighbours at home! It was interesting for children to discover that your neighbours can live beside you, above you, or below you. Many students taught about the kind thing their neighbours do for their families (mowing lawns) and the kind things families do for their neighbours (baking). We also learned that in some lucky cases your neighbour can be your Grandma! Students and teachers enjoyed watching this throwback:
This week, spiders became an area of interest in the Turtles Room. We took out our Halloween decorations and used the webs to wrap up animals just like a spider. Some friends had the idea to wrap each other up in the webbing and see what it felt like to be caught in a web! What a great opportunity to learn about the food chain and symmetry!
In the Whales Room, students have been interested in healthy eating. We love seeing what we have for snack and have been learning how to choose a healthy snack in the morning. Ms. G-P taught us a fun song about "Lincoln Ford" - a silly man whose face was made out of different foods! Students had the opportunity to make their own "man in the moon" using pictures of food cut out of flyers. Some creative friends made these into masks for themselves!
Thursday was a bittersweet day for the Turtles! Our friend Alice is moving back out east. It was such a pleasure having you in class Alice - you will be truly missed by all. Best of luck on your new adventure!

It was so nice meeting with families at Parent/Teacher Interviews last night. Thank you so much for your support, feedback and teamwork. We have a wonderful group of kindergartners at CCH and we love being able to share their success and progress with you. We are off to a great start in what is sure to be a fabulous year!
